Magen Yehuda is a non for profit organization run by volunteers.
We began our activities in 2004. During that time we saw that there was a need for a security solution in the many small towns throughout Israel being targeted by terrorists. The objective of the terrorists has changed. No longer are they trying to take hostages, now their objective is to kill as many people as they can as quickly as possible. Due to this new reality, the first responders are the critical element in containing a potential attack. The first response teams can effectively assess and control the scene until the Army arrives.
Due to the situation the need arose to organize quick response teams in local towns who could react with in minutes. These teams are comprised of local residents who know the area and who can respond immediately to any threat. These units were formed by the Israeli Army and were given basic equipment and weapons by the Army. But because of a lack of funds the Army provides them with only the most basic of training. In comparison Army counter terrorism units are required to train intensively for many months before being allowed to operate. The training that the Army provides is just not adequate for these response teams to react to the many difficult situations that they encounter. This lack of training has cost lives.
This is where Magen Yehuda comes into the picture. Magen Yehuda provides short intensive training tailored to the specific needs of these response teams. We teach each member of the response team the skills they need to accomplish their mission, and we teach them how to operate as a team. We also train the team leaders and security coordinators in commanding the team efficiently during operations and coordinating operations with the Army and all relevant authorities.
Due to the security situation here in Israel the demand for this training is increasing every day.
